Privacy and cookies

What data do we process?
- Membership: email address, display name, an irreversible hash of your password, and optionally your city.
- Contributions: notes, edit suggestions, compatibility reports, price reports, tank details, water tests and maintenance logs.
- Security: to prevent abuse, your IP address is used momentarily for rate limiting and is not stored. For votes cast without logging in, an irreversible hash generated from your IP address and browser information is stored to prevent repeat voting.
- Search: searches that return no results are stored for 180 days, without being linked to any person, to identify missing content.
Why do we process it?
To provide the membership service, publish contributions under your name, produce community statistics and protect the site against abuse. Legal basis: the establishment and performance of a contract, and legitimate interest (Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), Art. 5/2-c and 5/2-f).
Who can see it?
Your email address is never displayed and is not shared with third parties. Your display name, your contributions and the tanks you choose to "share with the community" are public. Only you can see your private tanks, and their water tests are not included in species statistics.

The site's costs are covered by Google AdSense ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Your choice comes first: On your first visit, you are asked for your cookie preference at the bottom of the screen; no ads are requested until you make a choice. If you choose "Accept", ads are based on your interests; if you choose "Reject", they are shown without personalization. Your choice is stored only in your browser for 12 months; you can change it at any time with the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of the page.

- Ads are shown separately from the content, labeled "Ad"; they do not affect the site's content or species recommendations.
No other tracking cookies are used. Preferences such as your theme, selected city, cookie choice and comparison list are kept only in your browser (local storage).
For the weather card, only the name of the city you selected is sent to the Open-Meteo service through our server; it is not linked to you.
Your rights
You can send your requests under Article 11 of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) (access to information, correction, erasure, etc.) to the contact address above. If you ask for your account to be deleted, your contributions are anonymized. You can delete your account yourself on the site via My account › Delete account, or in the mobile app via My account › Delete my account: your tanks, water tests and maintenance log are deleted, while your notes and price reports remain with your name removed.
The mobile app keeps your favorites and tank plan only on your phone; to keep you signed in, a session token is stored in the phone's secure storage. Your password is not stored.
Ads in the mobile app are served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may process your device's advertising ID, IP address and app usage information. In regions where it is required, the app shows Google's consent dialog when first opened; if you do not give consent, ads are shown without personalization. You can change your choice in the app under Explore › menu › Ad preferences, and you can reset or turn off the advertising ID in your phone's settings. There are no ads on the account, tank and form screens.
